Results of the Special Halloween Edition!

Hope everyone had a fabulous and fun Halloween!

Here's what judge Louise Clark had to say about the three eligible contest entries:

Winner:
@TinsleyWarren - "I loved this flash from the first moment I read it, and just couldn't get enough! Edie reminded me of myself so much, for so many reasons that I won't bore anyone to death with. This entry instantly held a special place in my heart! Thank you for such a beautiful entry!"

2nd Place:
@AnnaLund2011 - "This one also struck a strong chord with me. I love the fierceness and raw determination! I hope she finds her mojo again, and I hope I do too! LOL"

Honorable Mention:
@lakermom37 - "This was another memory - provoking entry. I'm sure the young lady had as great of a night as I did! ;)"

As for @MadiMerek: "So empowering, just like you! Love you!"

Congratulations, Tins! Since Tinsley has already had the honor of being a judge, the next judge will be the lady in charge herself, Madi Merek! See you tomorrow (Sunday)!

Special Halloween Edition with Louise Clark!

Hi there! My name is Louise Clark, your judge this week. I am an aspiring author, full-time catering administrative assistant, wife of fifteen years, and mother of two - one high school freshman and one fifth grader. Translation: I'm very, very busy!

Halloween is my favorite time of year! I love the spooky atmosphere, the cooler temperatures, the changing of the leaves, and so much more!

This time around, the prompt will be up for a full four days! You have until midnight Halloween night to flash me! The word limit is still 300, must be over 100. Question is, will you trick me or treat me? ;)

Retro Wonder Flash Fic #5 Results!

Thank you so much ladies for flashing me! I enjoyed your interpretations and uses of the prompts!

@darcysmom  I love her confidence and the picture you portrayed of who she is, and why she does what she does. Your use of the prompts was amazing, as well. Even the jeering of the audience was spot on, I felt like I was on stage with her. “I am the best damn thing this stage has ever had on it.” I absolutely loved that line.

@lakermom37 I was right there with her, butterflies flapping in my stomach as she waited for the curtains to rise. I like how I could tell she was strong, and very comfortable with herself. Almost as if being the hush hush secret thrilled her just as much as what she did. Loved it!

Next prompt will be a special Halloween edition with host/judge Louise Clark! The contest will be live 12:01 AM Sunday thru midnight Halloween night! See you then!

Retro Wonder Flash Fic Number 5!

It's Monday! Are you ready for the fifth Retro Wonder flash fic challenge?

Today's judge is the winner of the third contest, @lolosofocused! Lolo began exploring her love of the literary arts penning poetry as a child. But these days, she can be found writing stories of the more 'grown up' variety. Currently, Lolo resides in Florida with her family and can always be found writing. . . on anything she can find.

Here are the prompts, choose the photo, the quote, or both. Remember, 100 - 300 words by midnight. Good luck!

Acoustic (a poem by Madi)

Acoustic

Your guitar
Picking, filling the air around me
Dreaming.
You filling me with all of you
Fire.
My insides quaking,
Waiting.
Play softly, ever long
Directly to my soul
Press hard.
Push through me
Into me.
Your music fills my being
Floating.
Make me fly
Soar
And breathe.

Retro Wonder Flash Fic #4 Results!

Oh, how difficult it was for @lakersmom37 to decide a winner! Great job to the two contestants, @TinsleyWarren and @darcysmom!

Here's what our fair and impartial judge had to say:

With only two entries, I declare both the writers as winners in my book. It takes a lot of skill to tell a heart warming story in so few words. Kudos to both of you.
Tinsley, I could picture the young lovers kissing under the full moon, and felt how much their separation due to his draft call was going to hurt. Nursing was her way to be involved in the world her man was going to. You have the kind of writing that sucks the reader into the realm you've provided for their reading enjoyment.
Darcysmom, the letter to Diana was so personal. I could see a  woman with graying hair whose eyes had witnessed so many horrible events while she did all she could to save the lives that crossed her path, all being ravaged by the war. The encouragement Auntie K had for her niece was palpable in the story she told in her letter, as was her love of nursing.
Now, the hard part for me. I'd love to declare a tie, but I can't. Two such different views on the prompt provided, and the result was two wonderfully written flashes. So, after reading thee stories several times each, and changing my mind more than once, I'd like to be the first to congratulate darcysmom with the winner this week.
Thank you guys! Teresa

Congratulations, @darcysmom
Since she has already judged, our very first contest in fact, @LouiseClark75 will be the judge for the sixth contest.

See you next Monday with a prompt by judge @lolosofocused

Results of Flash Fic #3!

Only three participants this week, so they all won! Yay!

Week Three's judge was Tinsley Warren, and she had lovely words about each entry:

Thank you everyone for flashing me! And thank you, Q, for allowing me to do this! All the flashes were awesome and you guys all won!! *throws confetti*
Congrats to @lolosofocused on first place!

@lakermom37: I really liked how you set the scene so well. I felt like I was there with how you described the telegraph wires. Hoping she receives good news!

@lolosofocused: I really liked how she was doing that for herself. She came off as so powerful and strong. She wanted to help and she wanted to do something other than worry. I think he would be proud of her too!

@darcysmom: I loved the end! I wasn't expecting to rank higher than her brother and was totally fist pumping when I read that line!

Thanks again to all participants! We'll see you next Monday with the winner from the second challenge, @lakermom37, judging!

Stay sexy!

xoxo

Results of Retro Wonder Flash Fic #2

Thank you so much for the amazing flashes. I'm loving these wonderously retro words. THANK YOU!

Here's what Andrea has to say:

All of these stories are wonderful and made me feel so much, it's such a hard decision for me to pick a winner.

@thewolfswriting - so sad because this is reality for some but so touching
@tinsleywarren - Had me in tears, I could feel all the emotions she was feeling
@bebeginja - such a great mystery, I didn't think it was possible for a flash
@lakersmom37 - I felt like I was at the train station waiting for him, absolutely love the last line
@darcysmom - so much emotion in just 100 words that that's true talent
@kare831 - I love that this is their reunion story from their daughters point of view

Thank you everyone for coming out to flash me, you are all great writers and I'll be searching to read more from you guys.

As hard as it was for me to make a choice congratulations to @lakersmom37

Retro Wonder Flash Fic Premier Weekend #1 Results

Thank you so much to the three lovely ladies we had enter the contest. We really hope to see you enter the one tomorrow as well.

Here's what darcysmom had to say:

I had a great time choosing the prompts and judging the first Retro Wonder Flash Fiction Contest!
We got three outstanding entries. I am in awe of the creativity and talent displayed by these ladies. I loved how varied the stories were - reaching for change, unrequited love, and love in the moment.
I never thought it would be so difficult to choose a winning story. After countless re-reads and gnashing of my teeth, I came to a decision.
Congratulations Tinsley Warren!
sulliedsoles and lolosofocused you are both tremendously talented and made my job as judge incredibly difficult!
Thank you so much for flashing me!

A note from Madi:

Ladies, thank you all so much for making this a fun little Retro Wonder Flash premier. I really appreciate your love and support.

xoxo

Next week's judge will be Tinsley!
